FiberPlex Introduces Dual Channel 10/100 Ethernet-to-Fiber Converter

— Single 19” rack package converts 10/100 Ethernet signals to fiber optic transmit pairs —

NSCA Expo, March 14-18, 2006 — FiberPlex, Inc., the leading fiber optic supplier to the professional audio industry, announced that it will be displaying the company’s new

LightViper EF2, a Dual Channel 10/100 Ethernet-to-Fiber Converter.

The 1 U rack mounting EF2 will accept two independent channels of 10/100 Ethernet via two (2) standard RJ-45 connector/receptacles and then convert the signals to two (2) fiber optic transmit/receive pairs. It will operate in a choice of three configurations: standard Ethernet using Transmit (TX) and Receive (RX) pairs (Standard mode); two (2) channels of single direction Ethernet (TX-only) - or, as a combination of both modes.

The EF2’s operating modes may be easily changed by a switch located on the rear of the unit. Because the EF2 is a hardware device, it ignores packet structure and data content, thus facilitating transparent use with AVIOM’s Pro16 Monitor Mixing System™, CobraNet™ and EtherSound™ networks as well as standard Ethernet equipment.

Additionally, the EF2 features an internal full-range, auto-switching AC power supply and the option of being powered by an external 9 -18VDC supply. There are two fiber connection choices: (2) x 2 ST Connectors or (1) x 4 Channel T-4 Hermaphroditic Connector.

FiberPlex includes a limited lifetime warranty with all its LightViper Series products.

The suggested Professional Audio user price for the EF2-ST is $919.00 and the EF-T4 is $1,437.00 with immediate availability.
